According to an article on CNN.com, a professor at MIT has developed an inexpensive wheelchair fit for the off-road conditions that often exist in developing countries. This new wheelchair is called the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC) and is powered by two hand levers that function in a similar manner to gears on a bike.
